New Years

New Year's with the girls! Ava extended her flight three times so she could stay for New Year's Eve! At church, we saw our friend Hannah from college. Her family came out for vacation. We played Skull King one night catching up with everyone.
I have a bottle of hot sauce at home that I invite people to partake of when they come over so they can be on my Hall of Flame. Of course, I had to invite the girls to do it. But I was bullied into doing it because my picture wasn't on the wall. So we all did it together and holy cow I literally thought I was going to die. Now I know what my poor guests go through. Honestly so funny though. Poor Ava had a sore throat that just became more raw after eating it. That afternoon we decided to head up Waimea Canyon to try to see the Napali Coast! We got very lucky with the view because the weather was perfect! This is by far one of my favorite hikes on Kauai.
That night we went to a donut party at my neighbor's house and then went to the Sheraton to count down with Gavin! We had a sparkling drink and grapes. I guess Heather has a tradition of eating 12 grapes in the last 12 seconds of the year. Our grapes were huge so we were unsuccessful. We couldn't eat them fast enough. We were watching a YouTube video of the countdown and I guess we were off by a few seconds because the bellmen and desk agents kept saying it was already midnight as were counting down pointing to their phone screens. Non the less we still partied our way. I gave Gavin a quick kiss before running a muck on the street! We danced at Rum Fire and screamed in the new year!
The next day we all slept in till about 11am. I guess Gavin didn't get home till 5 am... someone had a heart problem right at midnight and all these crazy drunk people were walking around the property. Poor guy. Anyways, the next day we paddled up the Kaliwai River to swim in the waterfall! It's on private property so you can only go during holidays to see it. It was beautiful the day we went! I always get excited about the new year because it's like a fresh start after the craziness of the holidays.
