JULY!

July started out with the 4th, and we had a BBQ at our friends’ house on the river. I didn’t document this day well enough, but the night was so dreamy! We ate barbecue, played Bear Bear Moose Moose, and listened to country music, and hung out with our friends. Everything I love about the 4th!

We also went on a little adventure hike with our good friends to a secret beach and waterfall on the North Shore. We parked at a hotel and walked down a beautiful beach that had a small waterfall on the side. I was going to get in, but I got a little freaked out by the crawdads swimming around. That didn’t stop the boys though! Afterward, we went to the beautiful Queen’s Bath. I hadn’t been there in almost four years, which is insane. It’s always closed or there’s zero parking! We had the best view of the sunset over the mountains from the bath.

I also went on a FAM tour with some of my colleagues, Faye and Shay! We went with Holo Holo Charters and were hoping to make it out to Niʻihau to swim along the coast, but unfortunately, the channel was too rough with a swell, so we only got to see the Nāpali Coast. It was still breathtaking, but we were really looking forward to Niʻihau. Anyways, the boat tour was beautiful, we had an amazing time swimming in the water and taking in the sea cliffs. This view never gets old to me. On the way back, we were so sleepy we could hardly stay awake. I don’t know how the staff stayed so peppy! Now I know what people mean when they talk about my energy.

Gavin and I got free tickets from his last golf tournament to the luau at the Sheraton Coconut Beach. Being a concierge, and since Gavin has seen the Sheraton luau a ton, we were excited to see what the other luaus on the island have to offer. We got there late, so we had seats all the way in the back. We didn’t mind, but I can see how that could be frustrating to guests for having open seating. We enjoyed the yard games, and Gavin got really good at the poi balls on the field with just a little more practice, he could’ve joined the show! The food was delicious. I especially loved the purple sweet potato mash and all the fresh fruit. However, the MC for the show had the worst accent when pronouncing the Hawaiian words. Gavin was cringing the whole time! I was just glad to have my potatoes to keep me busy.

We celebrated Faye’s 31st birthday at Gaylord’s. We had a lovely dinner and chatted the night away. Faye is pure light and everything good! Courtney and I have been helping her with her house, and let me just say we’ve transformed it! We got rid of about 90% of her stuff, and it was so fun to see her family finally eating together at the table and rolling around in their rooms again.

While I was crafting with the Young Women, Gavin was out on the golf course enjoying the island sun and some good company with work friends. We love our life here on the island and feel so blessed every day to call this place our home.
