All you need is love

This month started off with a super bowl party at my friend Eve's house. There was TONS of food. There were several couples there. I honestly just went for the halftime show and food. I chatted with the other wives while the boys cheered.

We both had the day off on Valentine's great day. We went out to breakfast that morning at Kiawe Roots. This little hole in the wall has the best food ever! I got the pineapple fried rice which was amazing and Gavin had a potato and egg skillet. We just did take out and sat in our tiny kitchen at our tiny table.

After we decided to go swimming that afternoon at shipwreck beach. The weather has been just absolutely horrible so we were glad to finally have some UV rays on our skin. We enjoyed some Acai later that afternoon before relaxing at home and heading out to dinner at Paco's Tacos. It was taco Tuesday and I can't ever say no to a taco night. We needed the night with watching the sunset from the wall and valentines candy. I sure do love Gavin so very much.
The young women also wanted to celebrate valentines so for our activity the next night we had a Daddy Daughter valentines day party. The girls wanted to call it the Dadchlore. All the girls came in matching outfits with their dads. We had a photo booth where all the girls took a picture with their dad to take home from our polaroid camera.

All the dads brought their favorite treat to share. We played games, had dad jokes, and ended with a dance contest. Each dad and their daughter prepared a 40-second dance. I was honestly shocked at how amazing everyone did. They definitely practiced beforehand. One of the girls did a flip over her dad and then they both broke out into a swing dance with all sorts of twists and flips. Another girl and her dad mimicked Rihanna from the super bowl. We had all sorts of creativity. The girls were heaven.

I am definitely still getting to know the girls and everyone in the ward. I am not the first person that anyone comes up to talk to. I feel like I am always standing around awkwardly inserting myself into conversations to listen or do the typical get-to-know questions. Other than that everything is all good and I am enjoying serving in the ward.

The next best thing that happened this month was a sister sleepover on Kauai with Ava! Gavin flew to Colorado to help his mom while Bob was in the hospital. Ava came to keep me company. We hiked sleeping Giant while chatting with Katrina on the phone. It was almost like she was there hiking with us.

On Sunday it was pouring rain so we ended up napping, making cooking, and doing a 500-piece puzzle! You can always count on Ava to puzzle with. I sure enjoyed having her over!

My friend Eve is the one above with the happy birthday headband on. Eve has been one of our greatest friends for us here on Kauai. She has picked us up from the airport multiple times, fed us dinner, and showered us with aloha. We had a little birthday party for her on the beach one evening while the sunset.
